A High Sierra basecamp adventure with optional restorative yoga, alpine lakes, and room to breathe.
This trip blends the beauty of a guided High Sierra hiking experience with the grounding practices of restorative yoga and intentional time in nature. In partnership with Juniper Sol, led by Kerry Taylor — certified yoga instructor, wellness facilitator, and outdoor educator — this one-of-a-kind trip is designed for those who want to explore wild country while also making space to slow down, reconnect, and restore.
At Axis Wild Expeditions, we believe wilderness travel is about balance: effort and ease, movement and stillness, challenge and care. During the day, we’ll hike through granite basins, wildflower meadows, and alpine lake country in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, carrying only daypacks while our pack team transports the heavier gear. Mornings and afternoons may include optional yoga and restorative practices designed to support the body after hiking — gentle movement, stretching, breathwork, and reflection beside the lake.
This is still a mountain adventure. You’ll hike, climb, explore, swim, and spend multiple nights living outdoors in a remote High Sierra basecamp. But woven into the experience is a softer tone: sunrise yoga practices, lakeside restoration, unhurried afternoons, and space to listen to your body. Yoga is completely optional, and guests are welcome to participate as much or as little as they choose. Whether you’re drawn to the hiking, the alpine lakes, the restorative practices, or the simple gift of slowing down in wild country, this trip offers a rare balance of movement, connection, and meaningful time in the Sierra.
This trip is beginner friendly and is a great way to experience camping in the wilderness for the first time.
